Greek for Me
The project Greek for Me (AMIF/SO2/2026/16) is an 18-month project funded by the Asylum Migration and Integration Fund, as part of the integration measures for language education, identified by the European Commission in the Action Plan for the period 2021-2027 and is implemented by the Center for Social Innovation – CSI in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Sport and Youth – State Institutes of Further Education.
The project will offer Greek language courses to adult Third Country Nationals (TCNs) legally residing in the Republic of Cyprus, with the ultimate aim of obtaining a Certificate of Attainment in Greek.
The courses will be offered in all the provinces of the Republic of Cyprus through the State Institutes of Further Education’s network, as well as at the Reception and Accommodation Centre for Applicants for International Protection in Kofinou.
The development of digital tools, such as the interactive online learning platform and the educational mobile application through which trainees will have the opportunity for asynchronous learning and further practice will bring added value to the programme.
Goals
Knowledge of the Greek language is expected to help TCNs improve communication in their daily lives, enhance their prospects of access to the labour market and support their integration into Cypriot society in general.
The specific objective of the project is to acquire and/or improve the oral and written comprehension and expression skills of Third Country Nationals (TCNs) in Greek, with the ultimate aim of obtaining a Certificate of Attainment in Greek.
Objectives
The project is fully in line with the objectives of the relevant Call, but also with the objectives of the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund, based on Article 3 of Regulation (EU) No 2021/1147:
In the context of the policy objective set out in paragraph 1, the Fund shall contribute to the achievement of:
- Strengthening and developing legal migration to Member States, in accordance with their economic and social needs, and promoting and facilitating the effective integration and social inclusion of third-country nationals.
At the same time, the project also intends to contribute to the overall objectives of the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund Programme for Cyprus in the area of integration based on national priorities:
- Strengthening administrative capacity
- Supporting integration actions for third country nationals in the areas of education and access to the labour market
- Supporting local communities/NGOs/public bodies in order to better promote integration
